Sainted!

February 3, 2008: The St. Paul Pioneer Press recently mentioned us in their Sainted & Tainted column as being sainted...not once, not twice, but three times.

This newspaper feature consists of letters written into the Pioneer Press by people who wish to highlight acts of kindness as well as less-than-exemplary behavior by both businesses and individuals.

In an emergency setting, so often we try and help people and their pets, and then send them off with our best wishes. Many times we never hear how they did, or how me might have affected their lives. When we read the kind words that some of our clients had to say about us, we were very touched. To the people who took the time to write the following words, we noticed and appreciated it. Your stories touched our hearts; thank you for bringing some sunshine to our nights.

Sainted: I'd like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Animal Emergency Clinic on University Avenue in St. Paul for taking such good care of our 11-year-old grandson's gecko "Pettre" on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Pettre passed away. We are gratefuly for the doctor who was kind in telling our grandson and assuring him that Pettre's death was not due to anything he had done wrong in caring for his pet.

We highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing emergency pet care. Thank you.

Sainted: All of the people at the Animal Emergency Clinic in St. Paul. A couple of weeks ago, my younger cat, Ms. Prrretty, was very sick, and everyone in the clinic was so nice and patient. They gave her some liquids and she is back to her normal playful self.

On Dec. 30, when my older cat, Jack, was brought in by my fiance with stroke symptoms (I was in Texas on vacation), they were extremely nice and sympathetic and allowed me to talk to him via telephone. Then they went above and beyond by sending a sympathy card. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.

Sainted: The entire Oakdale Animal Emergency Hospital staff for their kindness, compassion and care during our recent loss. On Sunday, Jan. 6, we had to put our beloved chocolate Lab, Mocha, down due to a ruptured tumor that led to internal abdominal bleeding. We brought him to the hospital, where they immediately tended to his needs. When we were able to speak to the doctor treating Mocha, we were told that his prognosis was not good. We had to make that most difficult decision. We were allowed to spend as much time as we needed to say goodbye, which was very important to us. They presented us with a clay paw print, which they stamped his name into and put a few blue heart decorations on. Their compassion was further shown to us when we received a sympathy card signed by all at the clinic. We can't thank you enough for all your caring and support during this most difficult time.
