Blood Donor Cats

In addition to AEC's human staff, there are three very special, very hardworking individuals that deserve mention. Simon, Elliot, and Raz are our three blood donor cats, who live at the St. Paul and Oakdale locations. In addition to their primary duties taking turns as blood donors to our feline patients needing transfusions, their job duties also include lying in sunbeams, receiving scratches under the chin, occupying laps, and calming the other staff members down after a hard day's work. The rest of us couldn't do our jobs without them.

Our three feline team members enjoy cushy lives. Each spends approximately a year living at the clinic, and will donate blood to help save a life approximately every two months. At the end of their term of service, they have their pick of homes with their fellow human team members, all eager to take them home and love them for life.

"Elliot"

Elliot

Elliot is AEC's veteran kitty. He originally lived at our St. Paul clinic, but then his curiosity got the best of him and he decided to explore the space between the clinic ceiling and the clinic roof....uh oh! In order to prevent further expeditions, he went to live at the Oakdale clinic, and has happily been receiving chin scritches from his human teammates ever since.

Elliot's favorite hobbies include watching the fish tank for hours on end, draping himself across whatever laps he can find, stealing the chair you were about to sit in, and meowing...loudly. He is best friends with Simon, Oakdale's other feline blood donor.

"Simon"

Simon

Simon is Elliot's bestest buddy in the entire world as well as his partner-in-crime. He came to AEC in 2006, and has been happily living at Oakdale ever since. He is an absolutely fearless kitty.

Simon's favorite things to do include watching the fish tank along with Elliot, sleeping in the sunbeam by the front door, and trying to "accidentally" get locked in the food room.

"Raz"

Raz

Raz, short for Rasmussen, is the newest kitty to come live at Animal Emergency Clinic. He came to us in 2007, and promptly installed himself at the St. Paul clinic. He also responds to "Razzle" and "Razzle-Tazzle."

Rasmussen's favorite pasttimes include trying to sneak into the doctor's office for naps, meowing, and attempting to steal lunches from unwary human coworkers.
